Maeta, a contemporary RnB singer, made her debut with a series of short-form releases that culminated in 2020 with the Kaytranada-produced single "Teen Scene" featuring Buddy. These releases showcased her soulful and personal singing style. It was included on her debut EP with Roc Nation, titled "Habits", which was released in 2021. Maeta, who was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, began uploading songs to various music sharing websites and social media platforms while she was just a teenager. She moved to Los Angeles in 2019 when she was in her late teens. In the latter part of that year, she issued her first EP under her own label, Maeta's World Music. It was titled "Do Not Disturb".  The album's first song, "Babygirl", caused a stir, and she later collaborated with Ambré on a track called "Color Blind".  The song "Teen Scene", which was produced by Kaytranada and featured Buddy, was released a few months later, in September 2020, and it quickly racked up millions of streams across all platforms. Following her appearance as a featured artist on the tune "Mistletoe" by James Fauntleroy, she followed it up in March of 2021 with "Toxic" starring BEAM. Skrillex served in an executive capacity during the production of that recording. After signing a contract with Roc Nation, Maeta came back a month later with the throwback soul-infused single "Bitch Don't Be Mad", which was included on the extended play (EP) titled "Habits"..
