After returning to the United States, Makj began performing at local events in his hometown, and quickly gained recognition for his unique style. He received lessons from the legendary DJ AM, who taught him how to scratch and perfect his craft.
Makj's career skyrocketed in 2013 when he embarked on his first major US tour, playing alongside Bingo Players and Bassjackers. He went on to perform at many major festivals, including Electric Zoo Festival, Voodoo Experience, Coachella, and TomorrowWorld. In 2014, Billboard named him one of the Top 10 Artists to Watch at Ultra Music Festival, and he was ranked No. 63 in the Top 100 DJs list put out by the DJ Magazine Awards.
