Mark Andrew Labbett, also known by his professional nickname "The Beast," is an English quizzer and television personality born on August 15, 1965, in Tiverton, Devon. Labbett's parents are Carolyn and Jon Labbett. He attended Bishop Wordsworth's School in Salisbury, and later obtained a Master of Arts degree in mathematics from Exeter College, Oxford.

Labbett also pursued a career in education, earning a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in secondary education from the University of Exeter. In addition to his educational background, he also holds legal CPE and LPC qualifications from the University of Glamorgan (now the University of South Wales).

Labbett rose to fame as one of the "chasers" on the popular ITV game show, The Chase, since 2009. He is well-known for his professional nickname "The Beast." He also appeared on the American version of the show as their sole chaser between 2013 and 2015, and from 2016 to 2020, he was one of six chasers on the Australian version. Additionally, he was one of four chasers in the second season of ABC's American revival.

Aside from The Chase, Labbett has appeared as a contestant on several other television quiz shows and regularly competes in quizzing competitions. In late February 2022, he rejoined the Australian version of The Chase as "The Beast."
