Cole Brown is a political commentator, writer, and author of the acclaimed book, Greyboy: Finding Blackness in a White World. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Cole spent his formative years in predominately white private schools and neighborhoods. However, his childhood summers were spent ping-ponging between relatives in Ethiopia and the Midwest, giving him a unique perspective on race and class from a young age.

After graduating high school, Cole pursued a degree in finance at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. However, landmark events such as the death of Michael Brown and the election of Donald Trump caused him to reconsider his original plans. Cole graduated from Georgetown with a major in Justice and Peace Studies and a newfound passion for storytelling.

Inspired by his experiences growing up in a white world, Cole wrote Greyboy, which received praise from Diddy, Queen Latifah, The New York Times, Forbes, and others. The book was an honest examination of an underexplored side of the Black experience: that of Black kids maturing in predominately white environments. Greyboy even received an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Literary Work — Debut Author.

Today, Cole is based between Sydney, Australia, Los Angeles, and New York. He is a regular contributor to the Sydney Morning Herald and Blavity on matters of race and politics and is a fixture on Australia’s news networks. Cole is currently working on the screen-adaptation of Greyboy, as well as writing his follow-up novel.

Through his writing and commentary, Cole seeks to challenge and inspire his audiences to confront difficult issues related to race and identity. His unique perspective and commitment to social justice continue to make him a rising star in the world of politics and literature..
