For multi-instrumentalist, composer and artist Baird, the idea of home is embodied in the local music. Raised in Baltimore, he also feels at home in Providence where he went to Brown University and Mexico City, where he lived for over a year after graduating before relocating to Los Angeles. Baird is able to enjoy the qualities of music that are both frightening and exciting: performing, lyrical vulnerability and real exploration.
His modern music seems to be a silent rebellion against the limitations of what "bedroom pop" and "electro-acoustic" music have evolved into in the post-Cosmogramma era. He has recently worked with artists including Brockhampton, Yendry, Berhana and GRAMMY-nominated Arlo Parks as a producer and composer.
He draws on early influences from Talking Heads and Stevie Wonder as well as more recent selections like Panda Bear and Jai Paul to create the foundation of his style as a solo artist.
Baird is always off the usual path, listening to everything and soaking up the timeless lessons that music has to teach. The BIRDSONGS trilogy was motivated by this collage-type writing style.
