German firebrands KMFDM, who sprang from the European underground, were a part of the industrial wave that broke through to the mainstream along with Nine Inch Nails, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult and Ministry. They put greater emphasis on throbbing dance beats and confrontational statements than their darker counterparts, as seen by their flamboyant, propaganda-styled album covers and techno-metal choruses. Sascha Konietzko, the frontman and creator of KMFDM, has served in a variety of capacities throughout the band's history, including songwriter, producer, mixer, programmer, sampler, vocalist, drummer, bassist and electronic gadgeteer.
