Sandy Kelly, a well-known Irish artist, was always going to be a singer and performer. Her fate was set from the moment she took the stage for the first time at the age of three, laying the groundwork for a lifetime in music. She was born into her grandpa, Dusky Dan's Variety Roadshow. She was incorporated into the family traveling variety show in Ireland and later, as a teenager, the social club circuit in the U.K., where she played an ever-more-important role until she returned to Ireland. She began as a pop performer before following her instincts and focusing on a career in country music.
'Come Back Billy Joe', Sandy's debut album, peaked at number two in the Irish music charts, putting her career on the right track.
Sandy was introduced to the exclusive Nashville scene thanks to Johnny Cash's introductions while he was on an Irish tour when he overheard her on the radio, asked her to perform with him, and invited her to Nashville. Sandy later collaborated on recordings and tours with a wide range of illustrious American country musicians, including as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Glen Campbell, Tammy Wynette, George Hamilton IV and Chet Atkins. She remained close with Johnny Cash and his family up until his tragic death.
