Atlanta group Omni has always produced fast-moving, powerful music. And their second album for Sub Pop, Souvenir, their fourth overall, is their strongest to date. They approached this recording with a lot of pent-up energy, having been inactive for the most part of the pandemic—the longest period of inactivity in their history. With chopping riffs, staccato rhythms and wiry melodies, guitarist Frankie Broyles, singer/bassist Philip Frobos and drummer Chris Yonker transformed their creative fuel into snappy, driving tunes that land instantly.

First of all, Yonker is their new full-time drummer on this album, and his powerful drumming gives emphasis to each poignant moment on Souvenir. Furthermore, this was the first time the three collaborated with engineer Kristofer Sampson of Atlanta. With the rest of the music blasting from the speakers and Frobos's vocals more prominent in his throbbing mix, Sampson elevated the band to a new level of intensity.
