During its early years, Insect Ark made raw, menacing, and entirely original records, specializing in experimental, noise, and avant-garde drone. These new sounds, though they defied comparison, carried Schechter's unique musical spirit that has been weaved throughout her more than two decades of band and cooperation work.
Live drums were added after years of working alone, demonstrating that Schechter's unique vision could also go into deeper and more crushing territory in a collaborative setting.
Having made her home in Berlin, Schechter went on to compose more music for a new record. The band added Tim Wyskida on drums (Khanate, Blind Idiot God, Azonic). The two artists' fearless shape-shifting and immensely potent creative coupling revealed a common fascination with invention and distillation.
