Party Dozen is a saxophone Kirsty Tickle and percussionist Jonathan Boulet collaboration that is mostly based on improvisation. The Living Man, their debut album, was widely praised by critics and won "Album of the Week" at Sydney's FBi Radio while receiving national exposure on JJJ, Double J, and other communities.
Since then, they have not stopped touring, with every show being an experiment with physicality and an expression of maximalism. Comparable to the fabled Dirty Three, the members appear to merge into a single thought, unaware of the audience. Tickle deftly handles Boulet's erratic tempo swings and shrinking attention span while form eventually emerges from chaos.
After the release of their second album, "Pray For Party Dozen," they established themselves as one of the country's top musical innovators. Once more, the record was recognized as a Feature record by the Fbi and received support from other domestic and foreign sources, including BBC 6 Music and KCRW. Scottish post-rock veterans Mogwai and US/Dutch psychedelic dub duo Peaking Lights, respectively, remixed the singles "Auto Loser" and "Scheiße Kunst."
The band's intentions to tour were derailed, so they proceeded to Sydney Opera House to play a scorching rendition of "Play The Truth," which had been flawlessly recorded in the Drama Studio. They worked with renowned Sydney art gallery Phoenix Central Park later in the year to create another masterpiece during lockdown, "The Worker.".
