Although his later work did not rise to the acclaim of his early 80's career with DeBarge, 1990 brought a contribution to Quincy Jones' "The Secret Garden." Together, DeBarge released four studio albums: “The DeBarges” in 1981; “All This Love” in 1982; “In a Special Way”; and “Rhythm of the Night” in 1985. El launched his solo career just one year later with the release of his debut self titled studio album. Then, in 1989, he released “Gemini”, which peaked at the 35 spot on the U.S. Billboard Top RnB Albums of 1989. Then, in 1992, El released “In the Storm” which peaked at the number 22 spot on the Blues and Soul Top U.K. Soul Albums. Two years later, El dropped “Heart, Mind and Soul” which peaked at the number 127 position on the Billboard 200 chart and the 24 spot on the U.S. Top Rnb/Hip Hop Albums.
