Colvin was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and he began his career playing high school football where he earned second team All-State honors and had a school record of 219 tackles during his last year. He also was an All-Marion County Player, Indianapolis News Defensive Player of the Year, an All-Metro Player, and a first team All-State selection. Colvin went on to play college football for Purde where he was selected to the All-Big Ten teams two years in a row and was an Alamo Bowl MVP. Colvin then was drafted in the fourth round of the NFL draft by the Chicago Bears and while played with the Bears, Colvin was named to the Bears’ All-Decade Defense team. After playing with the Chicago Bears for three years, Colvin went on to sign with the New England Patriots. During his time playing with the Patriots, Colvin was a two-time Super Bowl champion. After playing with the Patriots for four years, he was released from the team and was signed with the Houston Texans but was released during final roster cuts and then was re-signed with the Patriots for a year before retiring.
