Skratch Bastid is a Canadian DJ and producer who is known for being a three-time Scribble Jam DJ Battle winner whose music is a mixture of hip-hop and turntablism. Bastid was born in Bedford, Nova Scotia, and he began his career after winning his first Scribble Jam following that win with two more over the years. After his growing fame from winning Scribble Jam, Bastid went on to release a collaborative album with John Smith and Pop Skid which was entitled, “Taking Care of Business,” which was released through his own label, First Things First Records. This led Bastid to produce Buck 65’s album “Situation,” which led him to be nominated for the Juno Award for Producer of the Year. Since then, Bastid has gone on to produce songs for Shad’s album “Flying Colours,” and as a solo artist, Bastid has released around 12 mixtapes over the years as well as an EP with Shad and his second album, “Spin Cycle,” with Afiara String Quartet, the latter of which earned him a Juno Award nomination.
