Barry Alvarez is a former American football coach who is also currently the athletic director of the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Alvarez was born in Langeloth, Pennsylvania and he began his career playing football in college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After graduating, Alvarez began a career in coaching and began working as assistant coach of Lincoln Northeast High School. From there, Alvarez went on to be head coach of schools such as Lexington High School, Mason City High School, University of Iowa, University of Notre Dame, and most previously, University of Wisconsin.
